Entertainment Centers:
The wide variety of styles pictured below is
meant to show how I try to accommodate my customer's design elements.
|
 |
This stereo/entertainment
cabinet was to be "long and low" with a flat screen TV installed on
the wall above. The middle section was raised to break up the long top and to frame
the TV to go above. 12 shelves in all, with 8 on slides to give easy access to the back of
components, and smoked glass doors. In cherry, this piece is 10 feet long, 20"
deep and 30 " tall. $4350.00 |

A "spin-off" design based on the stereo cabinet
above, done in cherry. 70L 30T 20D $2850.00 |

A Prairie
style spinoff of the cabinet at the top of the page with artglass
panels. |

Tapered,
paneled sides make this Prairie/Arts & Crafts style entertainment center something
special. Done in white oak with a waterproof finish, work such as this runs about
$4675.00 48 1/2H 60W
24 1/2D. |

Subtle design elements give
this piece, done in cherry, an Asian flair. The shoji screen design was influenced by
Prairie window patterns. The pictures I took in the shop turned out so poorly,
I decided to include an image taken in its intended space. Sliding doors house TV and stereo equipment, and for you folks still using
record players, the top is hinged. 37 1/2H 51 1/2W 24 1/2D
$3125.00. |

In many ways, this design to me, is the esssence of the
Prairie style, Chicago circa 1900 - 1910. Done in quartersawn oak, this
entertainment center, though it looks like an antique, will accomodate the new HDTV size
and lots of stereo equipment. The TV compartment has a pullout shelf behind pocket
doors. Water - based stain was used with a tung oil finish. Dimensions
48H 65 1/2W 27 1/2D. $3950.00. |

I include this picture of a Prairie style entertainment center to show what the word
"custom" means. The customers designed the piece as
well. A TV unit goes in the center. The design for the glass panels was
provided by the customer, and the colored glass was chosen to match a pair of Prairie
lamps I did for them last year. Stereo equipment goes in the right cabinet and the
left cabinet houses a pair of revolving CD towers owned by the client. The two large
openings above each cabinet house speakers and the other shelving is halogen lit to
display an extensive collection of artwork. The support rails for the
shelves (2nd picture) were "blacked out" by ebonizing. Otherwise the
light colored horizontal rails might compete with the glass design with doors
closed. A piece almost totally made up of custom
aspects - maybe this is where the word custom-er comes from?
$4125.00. |

This Prairie style
entertainment center was done to accommodate a large
selection of CDs to be housed in two bays of drawers on either side of the
stereo equipment. The bays are partially hidden by artglass doors. There
is room for about 1,200 CDs. Pocket door on middle equipment bay. Totally custom
piece, drawing supplied by the customers. In cherry, $5250.00. |

A contemporary example of
a large center bay astride smaller bays to house media. I think the
customers were intending to sit a flatscreen on the main bay. Lots
of space in this one. If interested in something like this and would
like to discuss options, please contact me. |
